Colorado Springs Family Photographer - Paint Mines Family Session

I was so excited to work with this family and capture their sweet baby boy, Leo (or Chookie). Carlie + Luke had Leo about six months ago, but they were unable to get any newborn pictures due to Covid. Luke is in the air force and was set to quarantine for deployment just three days after our session. I was absolutely thrilled that we were able to safely capture this beautiful family before they would be navigating a six month deployment. Also, who wouldn’t want to photograph those cute little cheeks!? Keep scrolling for more of our Paint Mines Family session!

The Paint Mines

The Paint Mines is a family friendly nature park that is just under an hour outside of Colorado Springs. The hike from the parking lot is about a mile, and is easy enough for even little ones to enjoy. The Paint Mines are a great location for a family session due to ease of access and how large the space is (so it’s easy to stay away from crowds). There is no fee to enter the park, and there are multiple paths to view the formations. This park is protected, so just a friendly reminder to leave no trace, and leave the park better than you found it. The formations are fragile, and are eroding due to people climbing on them. You can learn more about The Paint Mines on their website here.

The chunkiest cheeks

Chookie has the CUTEST, CHUNKIEST cheeks around. It doesn’t take much movement to make them jiggle, and even though I didn’t pinch them, I can tell that they are 10/10 on the pinchable scale. Look at this sweet little face!

The Love birds

After we captured the three of them as a family, we sent Chookie to the car with a friend to warm up, and I got to work with just Luke + Carlie. It is so apparent how much they love each other, and how much Luke absolutely adores his wife. They have such a great balance of caring for each other and joking around together. They really are an incredible team, both as partners and as parents.
