We celebrated sweet baby Jack with a Fresh 48 session in the hospital the day after he was born. Jack’s parents welcomed him on February 2nd, 2020, which means this little man just turned one! Happy Birthday baby Jack!
After a conversation with one of my birth clients, I recently changed from asking, “what is your birth plan?” to “what is your birth preference?” I have learned that it can be difficult to let go of a “plan” that you were so sure of or excited about (in many different areas of life), and this can sometimes cause a wee bit of stress– or a lot of it.
Hali’s birth preference was far from what she had hoped for, but in the end she and her husband were just thrilled to have a happy, healthy baby. They rolled with the changes, even when some of them were scary and seemed to come out of left field. Hali has a beautiful blog where she shares all of the details of Jack’s birth story, and you can read it here at Dammit Hali.
Jack was born at 9:06 PM, and weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces, 21 inches long. If you took a peek at Hali’s blog, you know that she spent quite a bit of time in labor. Jack is Hali + Justin’s rainbow baby, and the only little one that they have running around at home.
I absolutely love seeing new parents with their babies. There is so much love in the eyes of newborn parents. Hali + Justin handled Jack like the precious miracle he is, and you could tell that they were really soaking in every bit of this new experience during their session.
Although Jack was less than 24 hours old, he was already full of personality. He made all sorts of expressions, and definitely was not shy in letting us know what he wanted. I am so grateful that I got to capture such a special milestone in this sweet family’s lives. We love our rad families just as much as our rad couples.
Fresh 48 sessions are a great way to capture your sweet little one within the first 48 hours of life. You can even have them done immediately post birth to capture those first few hours of you with your baby. Fresh 48 sessions are different from a newborn session because they are typically done at the place of birth. This could include hospitals, birthing centers, or even at home before everything is totally cleaned up.
We love love love being present during births and getting to capture such an emotion packed life event. Fresh 48 sessions can not replace that, but we also understand that that might not be everyone’s cup of tea to have a birth documented. You will still be filled with emotion the first few days after having a baby, so this type of session is a great middle ground to capture that.
We offer Fresh 48 sessions in Colorado, North Carolina, and northern Illinois without travel fees. However, we love to capture sweet little babies anywhere in the world, so if you are interested in booking a Birth, Fresh 48, or Newborn session, reach out!
